This year is shaping up to be one another stacked year for exciting movie releases. With many blockbusters hitting the screens in the coming months, I have ranked the most must see movies of the year.
10. Avatar 2

Controversially, I wasn’t a fan of Avatar but that being said I’m intrigued with where James Cameron takes the sequel. 13 years since its record breaking predecessor hit the the box office, I’m excited to see how developed the effects are to expand the beautiful world of Pandora. This movie has a lot of expectation considering the length of time its taken to be made.
9. Black Panther: Wakanda Forver

The legacy of Chadwick Boseman will live on in the sequel and I am sure it will pay homage to the king in true fashion. Putting the story aside, I am looking forward to this more so to celebrate the amazing life of such a talented actor who was loved by the world.
8. Morbius

We are finally getting to see the long awaited Morbius movie after so many years of speculation, production and most recently delays. I’m interested to see where they take this, how much they connect it to Spider-Man and how it will pave the way for future movies.
7. Black Adam

A movie that is going to show everyone the different levels of The Rock’s acting ability. Besides all the over the top action/comedy movies I think he’s going to surprise a few people with a very dark take on DC’s anti-hero. Much like Morbius, this is a movie that fans have waited a long time to see so it has a lot of expectation to deliver.
6. Lightyear

Chris Evans as Buzz Lightyear is like a dream come true. Add in the amazing teaser trailer and Lightyear is shaping up to be one of the best Pixar movies of all time, it looks like a science fiction rollercoaster mixed with the heart and soul of the Toy Story franchise. A film that both young and old will enjoy seeing!
5. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One)

Into the Spider-Verse was a masterpiece, everything from the character development to the music. It swung Miles Morales into the spotlight and a sequel was pleasantly welcomed. I can’t wait to see them delve deeper and excite us with more version of Spider-Man that will no doubt be another big hat with audiences.
4. Thor Love & Thunder

Thor Ragnarok is one of the best MCU movies so of course there’s a lot of excitement for the God of Thunder’s return this year. With Taika Waititi returning as director we get to see a post Endgame Thor and is journey with the Guardians of the Galaxy. I expect this to be as humorous and action packed as its predecessor with it playing a pivotal part in the next phase of the MCU.
3. The Flash

Over to you to pay the multiverse card DC and boy is it looking great. I’m not that into Ezra Miller as The Flash but this movie is being hyped due to the return of Michael Keaton as Batman. Fans will be able to travel back to the Burton world that started it all as the caped crusader returns to clash cowls with Ben Affleck who makes his final appearance as the dark knight.
2. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

All hell is said to break loose in Sam Raimi’s crazy circus of horror with Doctor Strange and Wands Maximoff at the centre of it all. As I mentioned above, The Flash’s multiverse story will be one of DC’s best this year and you can bet that this will be Marvel’s. So many rumours of cameos, returns and all sorts of madness is creating the hype of this sequel, the same sort of hype that created the buzz around Spider-Man No Way Home. I have the utmost faith that Marvel know what they are doing here and will deliver on all levels giving us a colossal story with fascinating moments.
1. The Batman

There is no doubt that this is my most anticipated film of the year. From the very first look at DC Fandome in 2020 I have counted down the days til its release and I know it’s going to be worth the wait. This will be so different from any other Batman movie which is why it will be a masterpiece amongst the others. Listening to Michael Giacchino’s theme and being consumed by how powerful it is gives me so much hope for it too. The cast look amazing, the production design looks stunning and the gloomy tone will be like nothing we have seen before. Matt Reeves has definitely took his vision and used it so elegantly to make sure we have a proper Batman movie that is true to the character.
